Combining his passion for Irish pubs and literature, Owner/Proprietor Drew Dvorkin opened
The Dead Poet in September of 2000. Drew, a former high school English teacher, designed
the bar to celebrate the lives and spirits of famous writers and poets. The mahogany-panelled
walls are adorned with black and white portraits, musing quotations, and poetic passages
pertaining to the universal quandaries of life.
The atmosphere at The Dead Poet is amiable and
upbeat, and our proficient staff makes everyone feel welcome. We will proudly fill your glass
with one of our Signature Cocktails (listed below), a pint of premium draft beer,
or, if you prefer, you can sample our extensive Irish whiskey menu.
The Dead Poet is frequented by college students, Upper West Side locals, musicians, and
professionals alike, and has become a popular location for private parties. For your enjoyment,
we offer a library of classic works of literature (you can sign out books to take home), a
regulation-sized pool table, and an ever-popular jukebox (to request an album for our jukebox,
email us at info@thedeadpoet.com).
The Dead Poet has a reputation for pouring one of the finest pints of Guinness in New York City-our
pint is always fresh and proudly served with a Shamrock.
In April 2001, we introduced the 100 Pints of
Guinness Club. We track your progress carefully, and when you reach 100 pints of Guinness, we engrave
your name on our Guinness plaque. When you reach 500 pints, you get your own plaque and photo on our
Guinness Wall of Fame. This exciting promotion caught on quickly and, to date, we have over 300
members. Click here to view our most dedicated patrons
and see a list of recent finishers.
Please browse through our site and stop by The Dead
Poet for a pint or two. We gladly welcome any comments or feedback on our website, and would also
love to know about your experiences at The Dead Poet.

Our soon-to-be-famous version of the Long Island Tea is an ode to the famed Long Island poet.
The flavors of Absolut Citroen, Tanqueray gin, Malibu rum, and Grand Marnier are combined to
make a smooth, highly potent potion. Served in a pint glass and garnished with lemons and a cherry.

The Oscar Wilde |

Much like the flamboyant Irish writer, our sour apple martini is spirited and robust. Ketel One
vodka, Sour Apple Pucker, and Midori are shaken and poured into a sugar-rimmed martini glass.

Celebrate the works of this "New England Mystic" with our pink lemonade cocktail. We combine
Bacardi Limon, triple sec, and a splash of grenadine to create this tart and tangy cocktail.
Garnished with a lemon and served on-the-rocks or straight up in a martini glass.

The Edgar Allan Poe |
|
Poe was glorified as an angel and maligned as the devil because of his dark, mournful tales
of horror and terror and his mysterious, complex personal life. We attempted to capture the
nature of Poe with a dreamy elixir of Grey Goose vodka, Chambord, triple sec, and a squeeze
of fresh lime. Shaken with ice and served in a sugar-rimmed martini glass.
